In 1880, the schooner J. Hazard Hartzell was on route to Frankfort Michigan to deliver iron ore when it was caught in a storm that quickly broke the ship up. Though the people of Frankfort were able to save most of the crew, the ship's cook was left behind where she died. The mystery of why she wasn't saved persist even today. The full article is HERE.
