Hurricane Irma tore through the Caribbean, crippling Puerto Rico, and
smashing both Florida and Cuba. Among all the debris and junk the
hurricane tossed around- something strange washed ashore in Florida.

The Buoy is presumed to be a very old navigational buoy, built by
the Soviet Union to help direct shipping traffic, likely directly off
the coast of Cuba during the height of the Cold War. The buoy is marked
with "Гидрометслужба СССР" which is translated to "Hydrometeorological
service of the USSR" which indicates which service within the USSR
operated it. The name was, likely, a cover for the buoy's true
navigational purposes in the event one ever came loose and made the
journey across the Caribbean to the United States... which it finally
has, nearly 30 years on from the collapse of the Soviet Union. It's
unknown how many of these mysterious buoys may still be abandoned out
there. What is going to be done with the battered antique that washed
ashore in Florida has yet to be determined.
