Once, not that long ago (it closed in 2005 if memory serves) there was another mall in Wisconsin Rapids. That mall was the Shopko Plaza Mall, anchored by the Shopko store, and attatched to (though not directly connected with, for some reason) a Copps Food Center, both of which are still up and running today. The mall itself closed down with only 2 tennants right next to the front door, the Olympic II restaurant and Aquarium Pet Store. Both relocated to the strip mall across the parking lot, and the mall was then leased out in chunks for redevelopment.

Today, it looks more like a strip mall itself- the front has been burrowed out to include a cafe, shoe store, a few healthcare facilities, and finally the main bulk of the facility taken over by a Church.

But, the mall is gone, taking it's jewelers, clothing outlets, radio shack and KB toys out with it- it's even vanished online, with no photos of it anywhere, and it's only mention in a ghostly tag by Microsoft's satellite map, overlapping with the current cafe tennant's listing at the same address.

I'd say more about it, but alas, that's all that is left of a mall that came after the Rapids Mall, failed in short order, and yet still stands today. A curious footnote from my old hometown.
