Well, upon closer inspection, it's not part of the rover, but rather a strange rock. It's still weird, but at least it's not anything humans littered on the red planet.

Nasa's Opportunity rover spotted something weird on the ground of Mars as it was trundling along, and NASA freaked out. Mostly because it appeared to be a piece of the rover itself, as it was wildly discolored from the ground around it.
