I'm on the hunt for the best 90's cartoons, in no particular order, and for no particular reason. Feel free to add to my list here, as it's doubtful I'll recall everything- I watched a lot more Disney Channel than Nickelodeon too, so I may be heavily biased.

To start off my ramblings, here's one of my all time favorites...

Do you ever watch a show or a movie and say "Wow, that was so stupid it was awesome?" No? Just me then? Well that would explain why I'm the only one that seems to like Sky Captain. Speaking of which, that's sort of what TaleSpin was.

For the uninitiated, Disney in the late 80's and early 90's was passing around their old animated IP's to push their TV front on the Disney Channel, and later even more so on the now-defunct Toon Disney. Wild ideas were rubber stamped to fill blocks quickly, and TaleSpin joined the likes of "Duck Tales", the "Gummi Bears" and "Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers" to name a few. TaleSpin took a smattering of characters from Disney's own 1967 animated feature "The Jungle Book" and put them in a strange, technologically advanced 1920's city of Cape Suzette. In this world, the bumbling bear Baloo flies a cargo plane, and routinely has to deal with flying pirates, all while taking care of not-Mowgli, and dealing with his boss.

It's absolutely insane, and I highly recommend checking it out. It's dated, dripping in puns and bad jokes, and utterly charming for a 90's cartoon.

As an aside, I firmly believe that if there was ever a "serious" reboot of a series, this show would be even more amazing if for no other reason than the darker elements inherent to the setting could be explored in a more thoughtful way, and the action could be dialed up to levels unheard of.

Quote from Jasper Spongebob was the best.

No one, living or dead, will ever contest the greatness that was the original Spongebob. The newer ones I couldn't care less about, but Spongebob classic? Ah... that was some good nautical nonsense...
