In YOUR opinion, which would be worse- to be a gunner in the infamous "Ball Turret" in the belly of a Boeing B-17, or a defensive gunner in one of the nacelle gunner positions on a Soviet PE-8 Bomber, the Soviet World War Two equivalent of the B-17.

I'd think the rotation and the squeeze in there would be totally miserable for the fly over. Cramped, cold, dead in some cases. Yikes.

In the Russian aircraft you would almost always be seated upright. Not so in the B-17.
