Before the invention of radar, determining when enemy planes were headed your way to bomb your cities was a much more difficult task. For Britain, they devised a series of acoustic "mirrors" that collected incoming sounds and concentrated them onto a point where operators would listen for the roar of incoming enemy planes. These huge concrete structures still stand, and by their very nature, work today. Tom Scott takes a look- enjoy!
