Microsoft announced that they are going to permanently close virtually all of their physical retail stores, save for some custom-built flagship spaces they're looking to use in some transmogrified capacity going forward.




Another one bites the dust in the Corona disaster.

Interesting stuff, as I've actually been to a Microsoft Store- the one at the Mall of America in Bloomington Minnesota. It's directly behind the LEGO store, very much resting in it's shadow in ever sense of the word.


It's not unlike any other "computer" store though. I mean, their gear is focused on whichever brand is the "partner of the week" and the "Surface" tablet things, but that's about it. Back when it was "new" I'd stop in hoping to get "Microsoft" branded odds and ends (coffee mugs, keychains, etc.) but they never sold any of that as far as I know.


I doubt anyone is going to miss them.
