In 2011, Japan was struck with a terrible earthquake, followed by a
crippling tsunami wave. Following the event, Japanese fishing boat
RYOU-UN MARU was cut loose, and wandered the Pacific ocean without a
crew for a year before being spotted and brought in by Canadian
officials off the coast of British Columbia.

It's amazing to think how many ships are out there today that are
unaccounted for that may yet still be adrift on the boundless
ocean waves- true modern day ghost ships...
