The Olympic games were never held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, despite the name of the complex that was built to host them. The facility was built in the 1960's, and fell into serious disrepair in the late 1980's well into the 2000's when the above photo was taken.
In a shocking twist, Cambodia actually went in and fixed up the facility, repairing the pool facilities in 2017 so that they can serve the public again. They did a great job too, have a look!
Not every day you see a pool come back after decades of neglect. Very cool!
